Hyaluronic Acid - Restylane®

Hyaluronic Acid - Restylane®

Restylane® is the most common cosmetic dermal fillers used to eliminate wrinkles and augment lips and facial features. Restylane® is made up of biodegradable Hyaluronic acid, has no animal-based components, and is naturally occurring in all living things. There is no skin test needed because of its natural formula.

Which conditions does Restylane® treat?
Restylane® is often used to remove the wrinkles that appear around the mouth. Specifically, it is used to remove unsightly folds between the nose and lips in the nasolabial area as well as to enhance the lips, themselves. It is also used to remove the depressions under the eyes or eye troughs that can appear with age.

How is Restylane® administered?
Restylane® is administered by injection into the skin in the area chosen for treatment. It is administered as a gel that bonds with the water molecules naturally present in the facial skin, and its effects are noticeable immediately.

What should I expect during and immediately after the treatment?
Very few people who undergo Restylane® treatment show any side-effects, but if redness, swelling, bruising, or minor pain develop, they usually last only a few days. Any unsightly blemishes can be covered with makeup.

What are the long term effects?
After injection, Restylane® typically continues to have its cosmetic effect for six to twelve months before being harmlessly absorbed by the body. Restylane® treatment often requires only a single twenty to thirty minute office visit, after which normal work and activities can be carried out.
