Microdermoabrasion

Discovering Microdermabrasion and its Positive Effects
Our skin is exposed to a variety of damaging elements every day and over the years this can take a toll on our skin. Microdermabrasion treatments can help to reduce and even eliminate many skin problems. Some of these problems that can be erased with this treatment are wrinkles, crows feet, fine lines, age spots, and scars.

Microdermabrasion is the use of a non-chemical spray of micro-crystals to remove the outer layer of dead skin cells. This is a noninvasive procedure that leaves the skin looking younger and healthier. This procedure is much less intense than dermabrasion. Dermabrasion is used to treat facial lines and extreme scars and sun damage much deeper than the microdermabrasion.

Almost any adult who is in good health can undergo microdermabrasion treatments. The cost depends on a few factors such as the amount of damage the skin has had, how many treatments are required, and where the treatment is performed. The cost of the physician doing the treatment will also be a deciding factor in the total cost. It is, however, cheaper than most other cosmetic procedures to the face.

The way this procedure is done is with a hand held device that sprays micro-crystals onto the facial skin. These fine crystals are used to polish the outer layer of skin to get rid of old skin cells. The treatments take around thirty minutes to one hour each session. Most people need any where from five to ten treatments in a three week period.

This treatment will leave the skin a little pink but will fade shortly after after having the procedure. Makeup can even be applied shortly after the treatment to help cover up any signs of treatment. Many people like to have this treatment done on their lunch hour because there is very few visible signs of the treatment and it does not take too long.

The effects of this treatment are modest and are usually best when used on the early stages of aging. This treatment will not erase deep wrinkles. It may help to make them a little less noticeable but it will not erase them completely. You need to have realistic expectations when undergoing this treatment.

After having these treatments if you use topical lotions and creams the effects will last longer. If you have skin problems such as acne or sensitive skin then these treatments may not be for you. Aging skin can become very thin and having these treatments can make it even thinner. If your skin is already thin you may need to talk to the doctor before undergoing this treatment procedure.

Be sure that you have a clean bill of health before having these treatments. You may feel like you have a bit of a sunburn after the treatment and your skin should start to peel. Your skin will be a bit red and may be a little warm for a day or two. After this wears off you should have healthier and more vibrant skin.
